under the waterline signal flags

Welcome To under the waterlineClothing that signals your intentions and sends a message

The International Code of Signals has been used for centuries to provide long distance communication, safe passage, and assistance to mariners.

These are actual authentic flag signals. Radio has all but replaced the use of flags for communicating between ships, but flags are still useful for sending messages to your friends, the world at large, or that hottie across the room.

under the waterline has creatively reinterpreted these signals for sailors to advertise their intentions too. These authentic flag signals are now sending messages the admirals never imagined.

Whether you're a captain or crew, an old salt or landlubber, these shirts get your message across whether you're afloat or on the hard.

Be safe on land or sea. Wear responsibly.

These colorful code signals can be seen across a crowded room or where stormy conditions prevail.

under the waterline will not be responsible for salvage operations.

TL Magee

About UsTL Magee and Diane Dupuis are the owners of Under the Waterline. They are also the owners of a sail boat and spend their free time sailing the coast of Maine.

While sailing one perfect day (are there any days spent sailing that aren’t perfect?) the talk had turned to communication between ships before the advent of wireless radio. That evening a little research (and a ration of grog) brought to light some communications that are as appropriate today as they were in the 18th century, although with slightly different meanings.

Under the Waterline was born during a lunch stop in a small harbor while discussing our “research” with some friends. We have a great time creating these products and hope you find them as much fun (and useful) as we do.

Fair winds,

TL & Diane
